Facebook Messenger Drops Support for Creating New Accounts Using Phone Numbers, Facebook Account Mandatory *APP_NEWS*

Facebook Messenger will no longer allow new users to sign up using their mobile phone number. Users must sign up for a Facebook account. The change won't impact existing users who log in using their phone number.
